The Ohio State township of Austintown, with a population of almost 30,000, is located in the suburb of Youngstown in Mahoning County and is the home of Mahoning Valley Raceway. The township dates back to 1793 and was named after a Western Reserve judge Calvin Austin. The 8 furlong oval dirt track, with separate chutes of 6 furlongs and 10 furlongs, share a 305 metre home straight offers thoroughbred racing, and first opened for racing on 24th November 2015, boasting sufficient stabling for 958 horses, and a grandstand which can comfortably seat 1000. The track replaced Beulah Park and the highlight of its season is the Steel Valley Sprint.
